March madness is in process with the 2018 Men’s’ Pool League. With two more weeks to go, the Green Machine find themselves in foreign territory. For most of the season, January 2 through March 12, they found themselves leading the league by a fairly significant number of wins.
Standings as of March 12 are Red Necks = 120 wins, Blues Brothers = 122 wins, Black Birds = 123 wins, and the Green Machine = 135 wins. As they say, it ain’t over ‘til the lady sings! Anything can happen and often does. Nonetheless, the Green Machine is poised to win the league championship for the 1st time.
For those not familiar with the Pool League, it is led and chaired by Leo Zehnder (Blues Brothers team) with supporting help from Doug Kemmerer (Black Birds team) , Larry Roberts (Red Necks team) , and Tom Breay (Green Machine team). There are four teams, consisting of ten players on each team. Two teams shoot on Tuesdays, and two teams shoot on Wednesdays, from early January until late March. The game is 8 ball with rotating partners, shooting against different opponents each week. Each team will shoot 5 games each week.
Last year’s 2017 championship was not determined until the final game AND, believe or not, the final shot of the night! It could happen again this year but the odds are in favor of the Green Machine! Go Green Machine and how appropriate with St. Patrick’s day (March 17th) coming up. The last game will be played on Wednesday, March 21st.
On Tuesday, March 27th,, we will have the overall singles championship tournament. This tournament is a single elimination event. All league substitutes, and the team players are invited to participate in this event
