A meeting for the states of Michigan, Maryland, Maine, California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Georgia and New Mexico will be held December 7, 2018 at 1:00 in the clubhouse to discuss February events.

This year some stunning displays of house decorating Christmas Spirit here at BHP. Santa won’t miss this community, and I dare say astronauts might see it from outer space. Some friendly competition taking place.

Residents will this year, be able to vote for their favorite house at the Winter Wonderland Festival on 12/14 at the clubhouse town square. You must know the lot number of the house you are voting for to place it on the ballot.

While you are voting enjoy the music, have a free hot dog ( or two ) , and baked goods…lots of goodies. The carts will be on display, and all lit up, around the kiosk drive in all their splendor for you to view and enjoy. Residents will also vote for best golf cart at this time.

Don’t forget to stay for the young grandchildren as they “THROW THE SANTA SWITCH” and light our gigantic BHP Christmas tree.

A special prize will be awarded for the “Best Holiday Dress Costume” so wear your Christmas Best while there and strut your holiday stuff.

Parade starts promptly at 6:00pm..carts can begin to line up at 5:30PM

Parade will circle the park perimeter, with a poker run, and then return to the clubhouse for display and party.

Come on down…join the fun…share in the SPIRIT of the Winter Wonderland Festival.

A meeting will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 to discuss moving forward with the Winter Wonderland and Golf Cart Parade.  If you would like to volunteer, please meet at the clubhouse at 1:00.   Please bring your Christmas spirit to the meeting as no discussion of what has taken place will be held.  All previous committee members are encouraged to please come and assist us with moving forward with this wonderful event.

We are encouraging all Blue Heron Pines resident who wishes to attend the Winter Wonderland Golf Cart Parade, and the community get together and tree lighting the clubhouse, to please contact one of us below.

After the meeting if enough of Santa Elves join the effort, we will publish all the final details.

In my effort to bring our community together, I have somehow offended many. It was my hope, along with the committee members, that this year we would celebrate the holiday season by coordinating the golf cart parade with a tree lighting ceremony. We hoped folks would come to the community center and bring their parties to share with old friends and perhaps make new ones. We changed the parade route based on feedback that we received from residents. We moved the parade to the perimeter of Community rather than try to get all carts to go up and down each street. We hoped to bring the carts back to the center, so folks can really get a look at the carts and the awesome work that was put into them, so they could vote for their favorite one.

In making this change, I have been told that there is a group of folks who don’t want to do this route, they want to go up and down each street especially since our older residents can’t get to the clubhouse to see it. Therefore, they decided they will have their own parade at 5pm. They want to stop and have their parties at folks’ homes and do it the way we always did it. I will honor their wishes and they can run the parade any way they would like. It was never my intention to exclude anyone, nor do I want to take away from their fun.

In the meantime, Sun has generously donated a beautiful tree for our tree lighting ceremony. The ceremony will still take place on Friday December 14 at 8pm rather than 9. I would still like to have the Christmas music and serve hot chocolate along with any cookies people would like to donate, tables will be set up in the mail area. At that time, we will also vote for the best decorated house. I will have a box for you to place your ballad in starting on Wednesday December 12^th. It will be on the counter in the window of the kitchen.
